Which interfaces does ADONIS:CE offer?
-
Apart from the possibility to create documentation (Word and HTML), the module Import/Export also allows you to import and export data.
The following interfaces are available in ADONIS:CE: - ADL import and export
- XML import and export
- BPEL export
For further information on these interfaces, please see below.
-
How can I use the ADL interface?
-
ADL is a text (ASCII) format. It allows you to store models outside the database (as backup) and to exchange models with other ADONIS:CE users.
-
How can I use the XML interface?
-
The XML interface offers similar functionalities as ADL (backup and exchanging models). Additionally it can be used to exchange data with other software. It is possible to transform XML files from other tools into XML that can be imported into ADONIS:CE (or vice versa) by using so called XSL Transformations with free tools like Xalan and Saxon.
If you create a converter that allows exchanging of models between ADONIS:CE and other tools let us know or discuss it in the forum!

How can I use the BPEL interface?
-
ADONIS:CE allows you to generate BPEL code from BPMN models (on a basis of BPMN specification). It is only possible to generate BPEL for “Private” or “Abstract” processes. Please note that BPEL export contained in ADONIS:CE does not support all structures that can be modelled in BPMN (e.g. loops) and that the WSDL file is not created automatically.

What is the purpose of the option "Generate BPMN template"?
-
Business modelling can serve different purposes. Different groups of users have different needs and therefore should have solutions tailored to their needs. For example – business process models should be as simple as possible so that business users can understand them easily without the need for extensive notation training. On the other hand models that describe the process from the technical point of view should contain all necessary details so that IT systems architects will have all the information they need.
Therefore we decided that ADONIS:CE will contain both BPMN (for technical modelling) and our BPMS method (for business modelling).
Option “Generate BPMN template” (Tools>Generate BPMN template…) allows you to create a template for a technical model (model type “Business Process Diagram (BPMN)”) on the basis of a business model from the BPMS method (model type “business process model”). This option converts objects from BPMS into their BPMN counterparts. The created process template can be extended with necessary details and can be used for creating documentation for software developers or as a basis for generating BPEL.

Is there a Visio Interface available?
-
Only the commercial version of the product ADONIS offers a Visio interface. This interface is not included in ADONIS:CE.
