Do I need admin-rights on my computer in order to install ADONIS:CE?
-
Yes, you need administration rights to install ADONIS:CE.
-
What is the procedure for installation?
-
Prior to the installation of ADONIS:CE, the database (where models will be stored) needs to be installed. It can be either MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (suggested for Vista) or MSDE (suggested for older operating systems). Both database installation packages are provided with your downloadable package (respectively in folders “MSDE” and “SQLExpress”).
As a next step ADONIS:CE can then be installed. Simply click on the “setup.exe” from “setup” folder. More detailed info concerning the installation can be found in the “readme.txt” file.
Please note that some firewalls (especially Norton Personal Firewall) may prevent ADONIS:CE from connecting to the database during installation. You can resolve this issue by either adding ADONIS:CE to the “white list” or deactivating firewall during installation.
-
Which operating systems does ADONIS:CE support?
-
The following operating systems are supported by ADONIS:CE: - Windows 2000
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista.
-
How can ADONIS:CE be installed on non Western European operating systems?
-
These hints allow the correct display of special characters both in the ADONIS:Community Edition as well as in the HTML and WORD documentation for non Western European operating systems. The following character sets are supported: Central European and Cyrillic. - For an MSDE database the appropriate collation must be set before installation of an MSDE database. This can be done in the "setup.ini" file located in the setup\MSDE folder. The list of all available collations can be found in the "sql_collation.txt" file in the same folder. Please note that the collation should be case sensitive (CS) and accent sensitive (AS). For example, for proper Polish characters please set "SQL_Polish_Cp1250_CS_AS"
- For MSSQL Server 2005 Express Edition database the collation can be selected during the installation process.
- In order to properly display special characters in the HTML/WORD documentation generated from ADONIS:Community Edition, the user must choose an appropriate character map table file corresponding to the operating system language. This setting can be done after installation of ADONIS:Community Edition by selecting the appropriate value of the attribute "Character map file" documentation settings. Documentation settings are available under menu point "Options..." in the menu "Documentation" of "Import/Export" module.
For further information, you can download the readme file for the ADONIS:CE installation here. In the dbinfo folder there is furthermore an explanation how to install "SQLServer 2005 Express Edition".
-
Can ADONIS:CE be installed/used on Windows VISTA?
-
Yes, ADONIS:CE will run on Windows Vista.
-
What should I do if SQLServer is already installed on my computer

How can I start ADONIS:CE?
-
In order to start ADONIS:CE please find “ADONIS Community Edition” folder in the Start menu (Start>All programs>ADONIS Community Edition) and click on the menu item “ADONIS Business Process Management Toolkit”.
-
Problems with starting ADONIS:CE?
-
Starting ADONIS:CE after a default installation should not be a problem. However if the environment is non-standard some additional steps may be required: - If the message “ADONIS:Community Edition could not connect to the database "DATABASE_NAME"! Please try again.” appears please make sure that MS SQL Server is started (Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services). Alternatively if SQL Server is set to start automatically (default setting) restart the computer.
- Some software firewalls may prevent ADONIS from connecting to the SQL Server database. This problem can also arise during installation (especially for Norton Personal Firewall). In such case ADONIS needs to be added to the “white list” in order to allow a connection with the database.
If ADONIS:CE is to be used on a machine with a non Western European operating system, additional steps may be necessary to guarantee convenient work. The required steps are described in the “readme.txt” file.
