How do you use our tool: I use ADONIS:CE both in my didactic work at the University, where I teach Process Management, and in my consultancy work every time I advise my clients on process optimization. One of the most interesting „case studies” in my professional experience of working with the program has been the Voivodship Labor Office in Cracow, where ADONIS has been applied to create the complete Company map and Business process model and integrate the many scattered environments, e.g. working environment model, documentation, IT, risk map.
What do you like in ADONIS:CE:
The strongest asset of the program is that it is easy to follow and mastering it is practically intuitive for most users. My students and clients are always impressed by the fact that they able to work with it almost immediately after a short training. This aspect of accessibility has a very important educational advantage, since it enables students to build, or simulate „real” process models, and thus equips them with a practical, as opposed to purely theoretical, tool, providing them with an extra asset in the demanding labor market of today. What I find most useful about ADONIS in my consultancy work is the fact that it enables an organization to integrate its many different existing models, usually scattered and practically impossible to integrate prior to the implementation of the program.
What are the lessons learned / BPM tips that you would like to share with the Community:
1) focus on the strategic plan of the organization and gradual accessing the processes structure; the process map is like a foundation in a building: the stability of further construction and detailing depends on whether it has been executed correctly in the first place.
2) when building models and setting up connections between processes it is pivotal to use the „Cross-reference” object, which allows us to switch quickly to the associated model and observe its flow and attributes.
3) drawing on the less is more rule, I find that when starting on an exercise model with students or an actual one with a client, it is initially better to hide all the unnecessary or superfluous attributes in the Notebooks, not pertaining directly to the organization at hand, in order to prevent possible unrelated questions, unnecessary mistakes, and ensuing chaos.
4) when process flows have not yet been modelled, you can use the „Activity” object notebook for the description of the „product”, associating it with objectives and indicators, and assigning the person responsible. This method allows us to monitor the Key Process Indicators in an organization practically from the start of the BPM implementation, and flesh out the models gradually with more information and details.
5) ADONIS: CE is an unsurpassed tool for all stages of ISO 9001 implementation, especially in the areas of process description and documentation supervision in relation to updating, accessibility, etc.
